Classroom Expectations

Classroom Expectations:

In order to have smooth year we need to have positive behavior in the classroom. Therefore we have many different classroom management systems in class.

Clip System:

The clip chart consists of a chart that has been divided into different levels. The levels are the following: purple, blue, green, yellow, and red.  All of the students start the day on green which means they come to school “Ready for Magic” (green). Then, during the course of the day, they can move their clip up or down based on the behavioral choices they make. If they are making good choices, they can move their color up 1 color at a time. Inappropriate behavior would cause them to move down a color. Since the students start in the middle of the chart, they have numerous opportunities to work their way up each day. This really helps the students realize that they have to have self-control and be responsible for their actions and behavior if they want to be recognized for making good choices. Making it to the top of the chart is not easy, but it is definitely attainable. The students quickly realize how they must conduct themselves in order to achieve this goal. I will document what color they go home on in their agenda so you are aware of their behavior at school.

I ask that you check your student’s agenda each night and initial beside the color so I am aware you that know what is going on in the classroom each day.

Coupons:

Students will receive tickets each day after they color in their agenda. The tickets will buy coupons that the student may use whenever they would like. Students need to have 20 tickets in order to buy coupons on Thursday.

Purple – Head Student (4 tickets)

Blue - Prefect (3 tickets)

Green – Ready for Magic (2 tickets)

Yellow – Forbidden Forest (1 ticket)

Red – Howler (0 tickets)

Owl:

We will have a large “Owl” puzzle with each child having a piece of with their name on it.  The “Owl” puzzle will be intact each day and your child will receive a warning and be asked to take their name out of the puzzle before clipping down on the clip chart. If their name is out of the owl at the end of the day they will owe me 2 tickets. A student may still be on green but owe me two tickets. Once your name is out of the Owl your name DOES NOT go back in.

Tokens:

Students sit at tables in our classroom. Students can earn tokens for their tables. Students earn tokens for their table by being quiet when they are working at their table. They can also earn tokens by being quiet in the hallway. Students and tables can also have their tokens taken away due to disruptive behavior. The table with the most tokens on Thursday will earn 2 extra tickets for each person at their table.

Dance Parties:

Students can also earn pom poms for our classroom reward of dance parties. In order to earn pom poms the entire class must be working hard and quiet. It can be behavior such as quietly coming to the carpet or everyone is working hard in group work. If we reach our goal by 2:00 on Friday afternoon then we get a dance party.

1st Quarter = 15 pom poms

2nd Quarter = 20 pom poms

3rd Quarter = 20 pom poms

4th Quarter = 25 pom poms
