Meet Mrs. Johnston

Hi!  I’m Mrs. Johnston! Welcome to 3rd Grade at Wallburg Elementary! This is my 17th year of teaching and my 4th year at Wallburg. I have experience teaching grades 2 - 5, with most experience in 2nd and 3rd grades. I previously taught in Lexington City Schools at Pickett Elementary.

I am originally from a small town in upstate New York. I moved to North Carolina to attend college. I graduated from High Point University in 2008 with my Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education and again in 2015 with my Master’s degree in Elementary Education with a concentration in Literacy.

I LOVE living in North Carolina and now I get to raise two daughters here! My daughter Ruby is 12 years old. My daughter Ivy is 4 years old. 2020 was a crazy year but it was the best when little Ivy was born in May. Her and Ruby are my little buddies. You will hear countless stories about them throughout the school year. My awesome husband, Mike, works for the State Bureau of Investigation. He has a pretty intriguing job.

In my free time, I love going on walks, watching shows on TV, reading/watching new things online, and honestly, just hanging out with my family. I also love going to the pool or the beach.

I am looking forward to getting to know my 3rd grade learners throughout the year. My goal is to foster an engaging and creative learning environment that will inspire my students to become life-long learners.
