I grew up in King, NC to a family of educators. After graduating from UNCG with a M.Ed. in Curriculum and Instruction I began teaching 3rd grade at Wallburg in 2010. I taught for three years and accepted a position as a District Lead Teacher for Davidson County Schools. While I enjoyed providing professional development to the employees of DCS, I missed the students. I returned to Wallburg in 2014 and have taught 2nd grade ever since. I'm married to Mark and we have one daughter Avery Kate who is 18 months. I enjoy shopping, decorating, event planning and spending time with my family. There is no other school like Wallburg Elementary and I'm honored to represent this community as Teacher of the Year.
I have been a member of the Wallburg staff for 30 years. I am proud to work here and to live in this community. I was married for 48 years before losing my husband in 2011. I have one son, Tracy, and 2 grandsons, Jeremy and Jason. As I will be retiring in December, this has been a special privilege for me. Thank you to everyone for allowing me to work with so many children over the years. I will miss this.
