Birthdays- If you would like to provide a special snack for your child’s birthday, please let me know.

Communication- I will communicate through a class newsletter each week attached with their homework. I will use Dojo for important reminders and sign-ups. You can communicate through notes sent in their blue BEE folders. Email: [email protected].

Discipline- Students will be given points daily on ClassDojo. They have the chance to lose points as well if the appropriate behavior isn’t followed. Please check your dojo to know how many points they have daily. This will also be recorded each day on their calendar in their blue folder. Please check, sign and discuss your child’s behavior daily. Students who have 80% positive points at the end of the week go to fun Friday in our room.

Enrichment- We will have enrichment every day from 9:05-9:45. We have PE on Tuesday. Please wear appropriate shoes to participate.

Field trips- We will be going on 2 this year. More details to come!

Great Sites for Wallburg- This is a good resource you can use at home and we will use at school. All of the programs we use each day are found here.

Healthy Snack- We will have snack each day. Please pack an EASY TO OPEN, healthy snack. If you would like to supply some individual snacks for the class or boxes of goldfish or cereal- this would be awesome! NO CANDY WILL BE ALLOWED FOR SNACK.

Homework- We will have homework each week. You will receive it in their notebook each Monday and they will have all week to do it. It is due each Friday morning. Homework is an important way to practice the skills taught in class and to practice their spelling words and patterns for the week. There will be a spelling test each Friday.

High frequency words- Throughout the school year we will be learning words that the students will see frequently in texts. After learning  words each week along with their spelling words, those high frequency words will be given to review the following week. Please have your child practice reading them.

Invented spelling- Please allow your student to practice spelling words using the sounds and patterns we are learning in class.

Jobs- Each child will have a part in keeping our classroom community running smoothly and staying neat. Students will all get a chance to be a helper.

Keys to success- Good communication between school and home. Having a positive attitude about school- our children are watching us! Having good attendance at school and practicing skills at home!

Lunch- We will go to lunch 11:45-12:15. Parents can send money to the cafeteria by putting it in their blue BEE folder and labeling it as lunch money. You can also access their lunch account through the wallburg website. Menus can be viewed online. Please monitor your child’s spending- I can’t control what they buy when in the cafeteria.

Medication- A note MUST be sent and medicine must be brought to the school and picked up by parent/guardian in the original container (prescription or over the counter). The box has to be marked with name, date filled and directions clearly marked. If they take this on a regular basis you must fill out a form from the office and returned to the school. NO MEDICINE WILL BE GIVEN WITHOUT A NOTE.

Newsletter- Every Monday a newsletter will be attached to the homework. There you will find announcements, skills and concepts being taught and spelling words.

Outerwear- We will go outside for recess everyday unless it is raining. Please make sure your child is wearing appropriate clothes and outerwear for the season.

Parties- We will have 2 parties each year- a holiday party and an end of the year party. We will have small celebrations throughout the year.

Questions- Please ask your child questions about the day. Ask specific questions such as what story did you read today? What enrichment did you have today? What did you write about today?

Students are more likely to share when you ask specific questions.

Report Card- Report cards are issued 4 times a year- every quarter. All areas will be assessed and reported on the report card. There will be time to meet for conferences after the report cards go out.

School Fees- School fees are $7.00 and the technology fee is $35.00. You can pay using school cash online or your can send in a check or cash through your child’s folder. Label the money as school fees.

Transportation- Please send a note or email to the front office and myself if you have a transportation change. I can not assume your child is going home a different way because they told me. I would like dismissal to run smoothly each day.

Understanding- If you do not understand something that is sent home- please reach out to me to clear this up.

Work folders- Work folders will go home every other week. Please take the work out of the folder and go over it with your child. This work can be kept at home. Send in the empty folder back on Tuesday.

You- Please remember YOU are your child’s first and most important teacher. NO one can influence your child’s life in the way that you can.
